RANGE CREEK rises in central Grayson County (at 33°35′ N, 96°43′ W) five miles northwest of Dorchester and runs southwest and then west for a total of eighteen miles before reaching its mouth (at 33°30′ N, 96°54′ W) on Lake Ray Roberts, four miles southeast of Collinsville. The stream traverses flat to rolling terrain, surfaced by soils varying from dark, commonly calcareous clays to clay and sandy loams. Local vegetation includes mesquite, water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and various grasses. The area historically has served as crop and rangeland. Range Creek originally joined Jordan Creek to form Isle Du Bois Creek.
